Now that you read my blog about where I stayed in Daytona Beach it is time to tell you all the fun things to do there.

Daytona Beach is not the destination I ever thought about. However after visiting I cannot wait to go back. First of all it’s only a two and a half hour flight from Toronto and secondly it is beautiful there! We flew on an early direct flight to Daytona on Sunwing Airlines and we were there before we knew it.

From the moment we stepped outside the plane until the end of our trip we had an amazing time. The airport in Daytona is small but it’s great because you get out extremely fast. As soon as you come out there’s a counter with all the rental car companies…and I highly recommend renting a car since there are lots of places to visit.

Daytona Beach is not a huge city but what amazed me is how extremely friendly everyone is and how many cute restaurants they have.

Besides miles of white sandy beaches there are many sightseeing spots also. One of the most amazing things we got to do was go to Ponce Inlet and take a water tour with Ponce Inlet Water Sports . What made it unforgetable is seeing dolphins frolicking in the water. At one point one playful dolphin was swimming right next to the boat and when we stopped he stopped and when the boat moved he moved…pretty amazing to see them in their natural habitat. Ponce Inlet is also a great place to see manatees, however February is not the best time because the water is still too cold for them and they cannot regulate their body temperature.

Definitely go on a tour if you are in Daytona or near Daytona Beach. And make sure to check out this really cute restaurant right beside called Hidden Treasures. They have great food at amazing prices and the view cannot be beat. Perfect place to sip delicious margaritas overlooking the water.

When you finish your tour and lunch check out Ponce de Leon Inlet Lighthouse & Museum which is the second tallest lighthouse in the US. And the cool part is that you can also climb up 203 steps of the lighthouse to see gorgeous ocean views. Definitely a place to see and experience.

Nearby they also have the Marine Science Center which we didn’t get to experience as they were closing by the time we were done. But that just means we will have to come back another time.

There is also a few shopping malls that you can go to and for the first time in my life I actually checked out Target. Honestly don’t get what the hype is all about…but I am getting off topic.

Another must see in Daytona is of course the famous Daytona International Speedway , home to the famous Daytona 500 race. We booked a 30 minute tour which actually takes about an hour and we were driven around the premises (which are enormous) with a tour guide who told us many neat facts about the speedway…did you know this place can fit almost 170,000 people at once? We also got lucky to witness a practice going on from the Rolex box and take pictures in the winner’s circle. It was a fun and memorable experience and I highly recommend it.

It is also fun to visit the Museum of Arts & Sciences which has many exhibits and a wicked Planetarium; great place for families.

So my overall impression of Daytona Beach is…when can I go back? I had so much fun exploring the city and lounging on a white sandy beach. The prices are way cheaper than other popular Florida cities; plus you have the beach and only an hour away from Disney World and Universal Studios. And with lots of other fun activities, make sure to check out Daytona Beach for your next vacation or a weekend getaway.

*Experiences in this post have been provided for my review, but as always ALL opinions are my own. And as I say, if I won’t have it for myself or my family I will NEVER promote it.*
