Valentine’s Day.. the one day in the year where it’s all about romance. And despite that it’s very commercialized I still love it.

It’s just a great reminder to stop and appreciate that special someone in your life.

My husband and I don’t go crazy with gifts on Valentine’s Day. We usually just get a little something for each other like perfume, spa day, flowers (I love fresh flowers) and a nice lunch or dinner out.

It’s a great excuse to take time off for each other, connect and have fun.

Even though we don’t go overboard on gifts I still love to dress up into something red and super feminine. And it’s a great reason to go shopping…not that I need one.

So I put together a few looks for the special day. Whether you are having a casual night or going somewhere fancy you can still rock the red colour.

For a dressy night out, a flirty red dress from MarChlo Couture is super cute and will definitely make you stand out.

This red dress from Zara was only $25 and it’s super flattering. Big bonus is that it has three-quarter length sleeves so it will keep you warm if the weather doesn’t cooperate ( and they still have some in stock, click here to shop). It’s also easy to dress up with a pair of high-heeled stilettos and jewellery or dress down with a pair of boots for a more casual look.

And another great find from Zara. The off shoulder look on the dress gives it a very romantic feel. And you can pair it with a nice blazer and heels for colder weather.

If you are in the mood for something casual, a pair of faux leather leggings and a red top will always do the trick….and it’s a great alternative for a dress on a snowy winter day. These leggings are from Dynamite, top is from Zara and the coat is from French Connection.

Last but not least a simple red dress from Forever 21 paired with a pair of tall boots from H&M. I love the simplicity of this dress since you don’t need any accesories with it. However, it’s also easy to dress it up by adding a simple gold belt to complete the look.

As you can see there are many options of what to wear on Valentine’s day which are super affordable and still look great. All you need to do is have fun.

Since the love day is on Wednesday, me and my man will enjoy a quite night in with our family ordering Chinese takeout and watching a movie.

What are your plans this Valentine’s day? Do you have any special traditions? Comment below, I would love to hear from you.

Maria, xoxo
