Sanctuary Day Spa Review

I always preach about self-care so yesterday I took time for myself and had the most relaxing experience at the Sanctuary Day Spa. I went in to have a massage as well as a firming moisturizing body wrap.

When I got to the spa I was treated by a friendly receptionist who guided me to the change room to get into a comfy robe and slippers. From that point on I was seated in a comfy lounge room and had some citrus water while I waited for my registered massage therapist to get the room ready.

I haven’t had a massage in over a year simply because life gets in the way and  everything else usually takes priority over the massage. This however reminded me how important it is to get them on a regular basis. Since I work out and use weights it’s very important to have a good massage every once in a while (ideally every month) to be able to loosen all the knots and sooth sore muscles.

And let me tell you this was the best massage I have ever had.

This therapist knew exactly the kind of pressure to apply to loosen the knots. My biggest problem is that most massage therapists aren’t able to be firm enough with me and most of the time I walk out feeling the same way as I walked in. And big bonus for Sanctuary Day Spa is that all their beds are heated.  I’m that person who is always cold and the warm beds kept me warm during the full duration of the massage and it felt great.

Once I was done with the massage I relaxed in the lounge room before heading in for my hydrating and firming body wrap. It started with full body exfoliation followed by a quick shower to rinse everything off and the application of refreshing gel which was left for about 20 minutes to absorb. After that I was covered up with a whole bunch of blankets and wrapped up. It felt nice and warm as
the heat opens up all the pores to really let the gel penetrate. While it was soaking in I got a scalp massage and a full body massage. However this massage was much softer and focused on relaxation, which felt great.

Next time though I wouldn’t book these two treatments together as it was a little too much massage. So if you want to get a regular massage and relax, the body wrap is a perfect option.

Once I was done, half a day was gone and  I felt absolutely amazing. I sat in the lounge room to drink my green tea and read a book and then I was on my way feeling refreshed and silky smooth.

Now for my final thoughts on the spa.

The customer service is great from beginning to the end. Staff was very friendly, professional and paid attention to every detail of my visit (which is super important to me). The only thing I didn’t love is their decor (at the Vaughan location). The lounge room was a little dated and could have used a bit more of a modern touch.

Other than that my experience was great and I would definitely go back.

Now if you are always strapped for time and simply can’t make it out to a spa there is a great new option to have a massage therapist come out to your house or your office. All you need to do is download their Massago App and you are on your way.

Hope this review was helpful and feel free to comment if you have any questions.
