So I recently got an organic spray tan and I wanted to share my experience with you guys.
I have heard about spray tans many times and I’ve always been hesitant to try because I find a lot of times they come out too orange or they look like there are streaks. So I was proceeding with caution.
But I was going on vacation and since I’m super pale I wanted to look good in a swimsuit and have some color to my skin. So I decided on My Beautique Inc. since they offer organic tans. Organic ingredients are very important to me and the reason I decided to give them a try.
First thing I had to do is have a quick consult where we decided on the colour for my face and my body. I don’t like a tanned face so we chose a much lighter colour.
Since this is my first time I left it up to the technician to decide the best color for my skin tone. All that was important to me was to have a natural sun-kissed look.
So before the appointment I received an email with all the instructions of what I need to do before I get a tan. And the main thing that needs to be done beforehand is good exfoliation about 6 hours before the spray tan. This way the tan gets absorbed properly and doesn’t leave any streaks. It also gets rid of all the dry skin so there’s no weird spots.
They also tell you to wear dark clothing that’s loose so that nothing is hugging your skin to ruin the tan or get your clothes all dirty. Even though this tan is natural and comes off once you wash it, you don’t want to take a chance with nice clothes. (I actually ended up getting my bed sheets dirty a little bit and it did all come off as soon as I washed it. Nothing was stained permanently…yay).
Before you go for the tan you also have to figure out what type of tan lines (if any) you want and wear undergarments accordingly.
As soon as we figured out the colour, I had to take off my clothes, put my hair up and put a cap over it. Then I had to step into a special shower/booth. This is where the spray tan takes place.
Once I was there the technician applied special kind of cream to all the areas such as elbows, knees and bottoms of the feet( basically all areas where your skin is thicker and more dry). After that all I had to do was follow the instruction on the poses I needed to ensure an even tan.
The entire process took about 10 minutes was super easy.
The tan also dried very quickly so about 10 minutes after I was done I was able to put my clothes on and leave.
My whole experience was very good. Except for exfoliation, there is zero preparation and no downtime required. But be aware that you can’t take a shower for 12 hours after spray tan so plan your day accordingly as there is a slight tan smell. You also have to be careful not to get wet as that will leave streaks, even washing your hands has to be done very carefully. However once you shower, the smell is gone and all the bronzer that didn’t get absorbed washed away and all I was left with was this really nice subtle gorgeous tan which was perfect for my vacation
Overall my spray tan went very smoothly and nobody would have ever thought that I had a spray tan and not a natural tan.
I did a spray tan 2 days before I went away which was perfect as the tan slowly faded and my real tan took over. And there was never any awkward patches or spots.
So my verdict is I will absolutely get another spray tan before a beach vacation as well as for any special events where I don’t want to look super pale. The organic spray tan is a definite winner in my books.
Now I would love to hear from you…if you ever had a spray tan done, what was your experience? Hit me up in the comments. And as always, stay fabulous.
Maria, xoxo
