How to Build An Awesome Shoe Collection

For anyone who knows me, knows my deep love for shoes…and possibly a slight addiction to them.

Having great shoes makes an outfit, so a good shoe collection is a must.

However you don’t need to break the bank or have a hundred pairs of shoes to achieve it (even though there’s nothing wrong with it), you just need to know what to get and shop smart. Even though I have more than a few pairs of designer shoes, there are plenty of other brands that I love that are super affordable and still look fabulous. If you follow me on Instagram you know that I love mixing and matching expensive pieces with cheaper ones.

To start off your collection think classics. You need to have a good pair of black and nude shoes. These shoes will go with absolutely anything you own. If you want to splurge on a designer pair of shoes these are the colors you should get, as they will last you way longer and make you feel amazing wearing them. Personally I love pointy toe high heeled stilettos, but make sure to get a style that YOU love and are comfortable with (otherwise you will never wear them).

Once you have the classics then think colors. My suggestion is pink, blue and white. I love those colors because you can still wear them with anything and it gives a pop of color to any outfit; whether it’s jeans or a black cocktail dress. Personally I love buying pieces that I won’t see on every other woman wherever I go. I always go for styles that are classic yet have that unique flare to them.

Then you want to start thinking statement pieces; such as floral designs, cage booties, lace ups, etc. Also, I never spend a ton of money on “fun” shoes. They go out of style or you will simply fall out of love with them very quickly…I know I do.
